Sweet, Sticky & Spicy Chicken

We ate this all up before I remembered to take a picture. ūüôā I found this on allrecipes.com a while ago, adapted it a bit and now we all love it (even the 4-year-old!) Warning: it’s a bit spicy.

1 Tbsp Brown sugar
2 Tbsp Honey
1/4 cup Soy sauce
2 tsp Fresh ginger root, chopped
2 tsp Fresh garlic, chopped
1-2 Tbsp Hot sauce (1 is plenty for us!)
1/4-1/2 cup flour to dredge chicken strips
Salt and pepper to taste
4 Chicken breasts, cut into 1/2 inch strips (one pound)
1 Tbsp olive oil


  • Mix together brown sugar, honey, soy sauce, ginger, garlic and hot sauce in a small bowl.
  • Lightly salt and pepper the chicken strips, and dredge in flour.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken strips and brown on both sides, about 1 minute per side.
  • Pour the sauce over the chicken. Simmer uncovered until the sauce thickens, 8 to 10 minutes.
    Serve over brown rice or over salad greens for an Asian salad.
  • Tonight we served over brown rice with salad on the side. I think it would taste great with broccoli and carrots added to the chicken to have more vegetables. I’m planning to do that next time!
